Spray Paint

Postby Zombiekel » Thu Jan 19, 2012 1:41 pm

Guys

If I want to spray a DIY or strip something first whats the best paint to use?
Can I go down the Montana/MTN/Belton route as I can get my hands on that locally?

Spray paint wise I have always used a Halfords primer, then wilkinsons spray paints as they are cheap! Always seem to come out well.

I use a cheap car primer and then Montana gold or belton, good paint and great range of colours.

Been using Simoniz white and grey primer for a while it has a pretty good grip on vinyl and the finishing has a nice teeth to it, takes Montana color and paint markers really well ;)
Make sure your vinyl is nice and clean grease free, use soapy water or pure alcohol, let it dry well and don't spray on wet, cold and dump days, unless you have a spray booth in a dry place :)

stripping whys, acetone is your friend, unless its clear vinyl, this will tarnish it, makes clear vinyl go cloudy

I just use Sainsburys super strong nail polish remover, might have to try some proper acetone.
